What better way to enjoy the return of the heat but with a refreshing drink that can also clear your skin and heal your gut ?!! Yes, you read that right! This drink is definitely more of a health elixir than your typical summer cocktail. As a matter of fact, this potion does not contain any alcohol nor any added sugars. So, you can enjoy it totally guilt-free! This Summer Ginger Tonic Drink was inspired by a few of my favourite healing ingredients and by a desire to have my own healthy mocktail to sip on this Summer. Plus, drinking this magic elixir on a daily basis can really do wonders for your skin and digestion! Trust me, once you try this Summer Ginger Tonic, it will easily become your new favourite drink!
When I first created this drink, I had three criteria in mind: refreshing, sparking and a little spicy. Given the many health benefits of ginger and cinnamon, I knew that these two ingredients would definitely make it into this recipe. Cinnamon is a great anti-inflammatory and blood sugar regulator. While ginger is an amazing digestive aid. These two are a match made in heaven!
But to add even more of a digestive boost to this drink, I decided to play with raw and unfiltered Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV).
Unfortunately, ACV doesn’t make many fans due its strong acidic taste and smell. However, in this recipe, I guarantee you that it will not be an issue at all. In fact, you won’t even notice it. This drink taste like a sparkling ginger lemonade. And, just to refresh your memory, here is a quick reminder of why drinking ACV daily is so beneficial for your health:
It is excellent to regulate your appetite naturally, balance your skin’s pH, boost your immune system with its antioxidants content and to help promote healthy digestion and clear skin. Drinking 1 tablespoon of ACV (diluted with water) every day will have a positive impact on the health of your body and skin. So, why not try it out with this drink?
What you’ll need for this:
Ingredients (for 1 glass):
- 3 oz of water
- 5 oz of sparkling water (make sure there is no added/artificial sweeteners in it!)
- 1 Tbsp of ACV
- 1 Thumb – size ginger piece (grated)
- The juice of 1 orange
- The juice of 1/2 lime
- The juice of 1/2 lemon
- Dash of cinnamon
- Optional: if you like it sweet, feel free to add 1 tsp of raw honey OR 2 drops of stevia.
How to:
Place of all of the ingredients into a glass, mix them all together and enjoy it with a couple of ice cubes or not.
Sarah.
Hello
I like to follow you on Twitter with your travelling and healthy advices 😊
Only small problem I have with your recipes is the fact you do not use the international metric system which obviously has not reached (yet, as will probably never reach them!) America (nor UK, and they even drive on the left to make it easier 😊): would you mind also indicating those values in litres (ir cl or ml) and grams (or kg)? That witless be so much easier to follow your advices 🙌😊.
Thanks a lot Madame Sarah.
Erik
Thank you Erik. I’ll take that into consideration 😉
Sorry for all thee spelling mistakes… writing from my smartphone that is more of a “stupid phone”than a smart one 😆
…..(Or cl or ml) and grams (or kg)?
